21 day Journey

I'm on my 2nd round of 21 day journey through Beachbody program "21 day fix." I am so excited for these next 21 days. I love the accountability the group shares through eating and working out.

Today I want to tell you a little about the program or exercise program called 21 day fix. It is do-able for all sizes and shapes. It's do-able if you haven't worked out in yearssssss or if your up for something different in your workout routine.

The 21 day fix has yoga, Pilates, lower body fix, upper body fix, dirty thirty, 10 minute abs, and cardio. All the workouts are 30 minutes long except for the 10 minutes abs workout. Also with the program comes with containers in different colors and sizes. These containers help you portion out your food according to the calorie range your supposed to eat. The different colors are red (meat), green(veggies), purple (fruit), yellow (carbs), orange (fats), blue (cheese or nuts) The book that comes with the program tells you how to figure all that out.  It also tells all what you can have in each colored container. The program also comes with recipes for food and for Beachbody's all time favorite shake called Shakeology.

The 21 day fix program has been great with my crazy schedule in work and life. It helps me prep my food ahead of time. It also helps to know my workout is only 30 minutes!

Tomorrow is day one for my round two of the 21 day fix! Pretty pumped!

PS. The food I cook Mike loves too!

Trader Joe's Fruit and Vegetable Wash

Last weekend Michael and I went and got a few groceries for this week. While we were at HEB we got a bag of grapes! Grapes are one of my favorite fruits! I do not know if it's because they are small and easy to eat or if it is because they are just sooo good.

I wanted to share with you a jewel I found at Trader Joe's last summer while in San Antonio! (I could spend about 4 hours in a grocery store like that..I am just saying!) I found a fruit and vegetable wash to wash your fruit and vegetables. I guess exactly what it says, huh? I never knew why to wash your fruits and vegetables except to get all the bugs and dirt off of them. One year in college I did a research paper on what farmers are putting on our fruits and vegetables. They are putting pesticides on our foods to keep the bugs off of them.  If you would like to find out more about pesticides you may go to this link.

This is the bottle I got last summer

I filled a bowl with water and put about two tablespoons of the Traders Joe's Fruit and Vegetable Wash into the bowl. I mixed the water and the wash together and then I placed my fruit into the bowl. I left the fruit there for about 30 seconds.

Then I started to stir the grapes around in the bowl for about 10-20 seconds.

Then the last step I rinsed the grapes.

Since I have been washing our fruits and vegetables with this wash, I have been able to tell a difference in how good they taste. These grapes were not organic either. I know grapes are on the "dirty dozen list," but sometimes you just have get what your are able to get!

I will be interested in making my own fruits and vegetable wash in the future! Do you make your own wash other than using just water? Please comment below! I would love to hear how you wash your fruits and vegetables!

Easter Weekend/Skeet Shooting

This past weekend for Easter we ventured to Hobbs America.   We are making regular trips due to my grandma being diagnosed with cancer back in the beginning of February of this year.  On the boys agenda every weekend when we go to Hobbs is shooting guns. Mine can look different from shopping to cooking meals to freeze for the next coming weeks.
This past weekend I helped clean and organize two freezers. I made an excel sheet of the food in each freezer. I love doing food things! I love to organize and get it on paper too! So this is right up my alley. I love cooking which is why that is part of my job at House of Faith.

I hurried through the organization of the freezers so I could go shooting with the guys. We did not shoot at targets but at skeet. If you are not familiar with skeet shooting it is a form of clay-pigeon shooting in which targets are hurled from two traps at varying speeds and angles. Here is the skeet trap that we use.
I shot about 75 rounds. The first couple of times I shot I would say "ouch!" The gun had a little kick to it. This was about the 3rd time I had ever shot a gun. Out of the 75 rounds I maybe hit about 3 skeet! I am proud of that!!! Maybe next time I will hit five!

Michael on the other hand has an awesome shot! When I would say "Pull," which means someone pushes a button and the skeet goes flying in the air, about three other guns were aimed at the skeet that I would miss. Any time Michael would say "Pullllll" he would usually ALWAYS get them!! I was so proud! My dad and brother are awesome at the sport as well! I am a little jealous I must say. They all are so patient with me in teaching me.
Here are all the guys lined up to get the skeet that comes out of the skeet machine. My dad sitting on the truck was the one who was pushing the button when people would say "Pull!" They would see who could get it first! It was fun game.

This is the end result of all our shot gun shells and our guns laying out on the table! It was a pretty epic afternoon. We had to go home because we shot all the skeet that we had.

We had a great weekend at the Berry home but sure did miss our little nephews Easter egg hunt back in San Angelo.
Look at our awesome family! This is Mia, Bernie, Little Bernie, Isaiah, and Caleb

Here is Michael's mom and the boys!

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter! Christ is Alive! He Lives!
Luke 24:6-7
6He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:7'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' "

Hobbies

My first post. So I normally start hobbies in order to fellowship with people. I dont hate doing these things i actually really love them. Starting with my love for the cowboys. I started liking the cowboys cause my dad and my family loves them and it did help that they were winning back to back champion ships in the early 90s Love is in a understatment in that case. I used to bmx not only cause it was fun it kept me at House of Faith but it led me to a great influnence/best man in my life joe funk. Regardless of how terrible i was at it i stuck with it cause of the life that was poured into me and the relationships i had with those i rode with. The trips i took to skateparks around texas and colorado.
Fishing i started fishing when i was a little boy i remember fishing in massachucettes with my sister mia. I used to fish the concho underneath the chadbourne bridge. I used to catch perch with corn i remember a stringer with 9 perch. Now in my late 20s i find myself rolling up on a crappie hole with my friend carlos or taking trips to the coast to fish sheeps head to almost limiting out for the day .Fishing with derek at lake nasworthy . Or taking my nephews, one of them caught a baby black bass one time.  Ive constantly been outfished by my brother-in-law Aaron time and time again at lake allen henry or jug fishing catfish to stock up for fish frys with the family. I even fished  with my fiance at the time. I would setup two chairs and enjoyed the quiet or listening to some worship with her.
Now comes my newest hobbie as of late. I had been wanting to play a disc golf course in hobbs we would pass it on our way to the shot gun range. Ive played in the past with friends but never gotten too serious with it, it was as always  a new thing that i did to fellowship. But not this particular time i didnt really care to do it with anyone. I invited people to come and play a round with me but never had any takers. Not really many peoples cup of tea. Except for max i forced him to go and he really likes it. I take him when i play the Course near our house. I dont everyone though, throw the disc find the disc repeat till you make it into the basket. You could birdie the hole be done in about 2 or 3 shots depending on your put. Get real aggressive and theres a chance you could be over on the hole by 2 or 3 strokes. Your risk either pays off or increases your score. Either way i find myself playing sometimes 36 holes  on a weekend. I found out theres about 6 courses in san angelo alone pluse the one in hobbs where my in laws live. I played once, i woke up early and played one morning took me a little longer than usual cause i had to figure it out. No map  i just had to figure out holes and tee offs. Its not something i do with alot of people ive only played alone since ive started playing again. My phone keeps score with the apps ive downloaded and provides the sermons, worship music or music im feeling. Max usually gets tied to my blue backpack i use to keep with his 15ft yellow leash i made using a carribeaner and leash hook. He goes crazy everytime ive grab the leash. This has been the one hobbie ive started with myself.  ive found myself fellowshipping with the Lord through music or through a message ive downloaded through our church or matt chandler. So in some way ive done this to fellowship with the Lord. To enjoy meaningful conversations like ive had in the past with joe carlos aaron or anyone ive shared time with. If people join me cool, if they dont ill be fine walking with my boy max at my side talking to Jesus hearing from him and just enjoying the peace that comes from him.

Matthew 22:36-40

New International Version (NIV)

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Wonderful White Bread Recipe

If you are like most Americans..well most humans..WE LOVE BREAD! Growing up my family and I would go Sundays to church and then go to grandmas house for lunch. Still to this day I love my grandmas cooking (ALL three of my grandmas cooking)!

All my grandmas have enjoyed cooking since I could remember. Even when I was little they would let me help in the kitchen. I would help sprinkle marshmallows on top of the sweet potatoes or help put the ingredients in the bowl to make peppermint cookies. Some main dishes that these wonderful women have cooked include homemade chicken and dumb-lings, beans and corn bread, jambalaya , sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving, and chicken and rice. Let us not forget about the sweets table! Sweets table includes cookie cakes, divinity, popcorn candy, peanut brittle, punch bowl cake, blueberry cheese cake and many more! All of these smells of bread making or cookies baking reminds me of childhood. But today I am going to share a bread recipe that I always got at grandmas house. Well we got it at her house if she did not for get to get it out of the microwave! She is the type of lady to make things in advance and freeze the meals or breads until it is needed for a meal.

A few years a go I invested in a bread maker. It was one of the worst and best decisions of my life. Knowing how much I love bread and knowing how bad it is for me are thoughts that go through my head. I just have to tell myself to keep it to moderation! I love a house that smells like bread. Call me weird if you like! :D

Physical Therapy

Michael and I! He would carry in my backpack, water bottle, bible, and ten million other things when I was in my boot!

A few months ago after an indoor soccer game I came to a point in my life where my foot hurt so bad that I could not walk. I stood up in the living room and asked Michael if he would help me walk. He thought I was just kidding and said, "Are you kidding me?" We had only been married for about a month!

Needless to say I made a foot appointment after my grandma (Nana) kept text me to remind me to make a doctors appointment! (YUP! SHE TEXTS!) After going in to see the doctor he first thought I had a stress fracture! He told me things like, "You could lose your foot, do not walk a lot, I am giving you crutches because I think you are going to walk a lot." I was in a boot and crutches for a month till I went back to see the doctor again. When I went back for a check up, I asked him if we could try a knee scooter for a week or two before we tried an MRI! He said it was worth a try!

That being said I was on a knee scooter our 2nd month of being married! It was hard to do anything around the house from cooking to cleaning to washing clothes! I have one amazing husband ladies! He was doing it all! At times I took it for granted! We both hated that I was in a boot! I hated it because I would see my husband doing things that I thought was my job to do around the house. Then I saw things that needed to get done but I could not do it because I was limited to what I could do. I do not think anyone really enjoys being crippled!

After being on the knee scooter for two weeks, I went in for another check up. He concluded I have plantar fasciitis! WebMD definition says, "Plantar fasciitis (say "PLAN-ter fash-ee-EYE-tus") is the most common cause of heel pain. The plantar fascia camera.gif is the flat band of tissue (ligament) that connects your heel bone to your toes. It supports the arch of your foot. If you strain your plantar fascia, it gets weak, swollen, and irritated (inflamed). Then your heel or the bottom of your foot hurts when you stand or walk." With six weeks being in a boot, that was the conclusion! Now I have been doing physical therapy for the past three weeks. Since I was in the boot I lost all flexibility in my foot. I basically was not walking right. I am hoping this week is the last week for physical therapy! My check book can not afford anymore doctor bills! This has been one expensive foot!

I am so grateful to have limbs that work!
Me at Physical Therapy using the tens unit!
Now I have one of my own to use at home..Mike has been enjoying it too! Thanks Heather Hill!
